I believe that these pictures were taken in the spring of 1972; Geoff would have been about two at the time. We had gone to Washington, DC so that I could attend the American Physical Society spring meeting. We decided to take a little vacation after the meeting and drove down to Monticello (the first picture) and then to Williamsburg (second picture). The second picture, one of my favorites, has been on my bedroom bureau for Geoff’s entire life (since two).
Me running down that path with the trees is one of my earliest memories. I remember it as being this huge tunnel, and I was whizzing down, and I remember the light flitting through the trees and it was amazing!
